Fundus Photography

The purpose of the fundus photography procedure is to assess the condition of the ocular fundus with a fundus camera.

During the procedure

the pupil is dilated to allow the ocular fundus to become clearly visible. When the effects of the eye drops appear, the patient places their chin on the chin rest and the camera is placed in front of their eye. A bright light will flash when each photograph is taken. These flashes may blind the eye for a while. Depending on the type of photos required, several shots may be taken.

Procedure duration

depends on the constriction time of the pupils. Although the imaging may take only a few minutes, please allow up to 30 to 40 minutes for the whole procedure.

It is important to know

that the drops used in the procedure will result in blurred vision for a few more hours. The patient should not refrain from driving until their vision is restored.
