Tips for People Who Use Contact Lenses

  • Do not wear contact lenses for more than 2–3 hours on the first day. Increase the time you wear your lenses by one hour a day. The average time to get used to the lenses is two weeks.
  • Depending on the type of lens, contact lenses can be worn for an average of 8–12 hours a day. Do not wear contact lenses longer than prescribed.
  • Always wash your hands before applying and removing lenses.
  • Before applying the lens, make sure the lens is facing the correct way.
  • Do not confuse left and right eye contact lenses.
  • Apply eye make-up after wearing the lenses and remove the lenses before removing the make-up.
  • Clean the lenses with the specified liquid before putting them on and taking them off: place the lens in the palm of your hand, pour a few drops of the liquid on it and gently rub the lens on both sides or apply the liquid with pressure on both sides.
  • The maintenance liquid in the container must be changed daily. If the lenses are not used for a long time, the liquid must be changed every week.
  • All kinds of aerosols are harmful to the surface of the lens: hairspray, deodorant, etc.
  • If the eyes sting or the lenses feel uncomfortable, remove the lenses and check to see if they are properly aligned and intact.
  • If your eyes are red or stinging for a long time, wear glasses instead of lenses. If necessary, consult an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
  • Wear glasses in case of viral infection.
  • It is uncomfortable to be in a dusty, smoky and dry environment with contact lenses on.
  • Wear swimming goggles when swimming in the pool or elsewhere, otherwise the water may wash the contact lenses out of your eyes. In addition, both chlorinated and seawater can contain harmful bacteria.
  • Working on a computer causes dry eyes. To alleviate the situation, wear glasses instead of lenses during this time.
  • Carry your lens case and glasses with you at all times.
  • Do not sleep with the lenses still on your eyes.
  • Give your eyes a break from lenses for at least a day per week.
  • The wearing time of the lenses starts when you open the lens package.
  • Change the lens case every 3–6 months.
  • Once you start wearing lenses, see your optometrist for a follow-up check-up after 3-6 months.
