Measuring the thickness of the cornea (the superficial layer of the eye). When measuring internal pressure of the eye the variation in cornea thickness may cause a measuring error. Pachymetry allows ust o correct this error and reach greater accuracy
Pachymetry must be conducted to measure thickness of the cornea. The eye is numbed with a special fluid and then measured with a specialized tool. For accuracy multiple tries may be necessary.
Taking the measurement takes a couple of minutes and the results can be printed.
